Windy Point Publishing Co., headquartered in Austin, Texas, announces 
the release and immediate availability of its inaugural CD-ROM, 
"West of Union Station, Vol. 1". This interactive railroad and modeling
CD-ROM contains thousands of screens dedicated to model railroading, 
including dozens of AVI videos, hundreds of graphics, model and 
prototype photos, and railroad art. 

The "West of Union Station, Vol. 1" domain is so large that it is on 
2 CD-ROMs and is divided into several sections:
		
	*  A digital LAYOUT TOUR of Chuck Ellis' incredible 40'x60', 
	   HO/HOn3 layout, the "Great NorthWestern and Pacific Railway".
	   The tour includes dozens of photos and AVI videos.
 
	*  The MODELER'S WORKBENCH with how-to articles on "Getting 
	   Started in Model Railroading", the "Electronics Workbench" 
	   with Bill Hounsel, and "Building Trestles" with Mike Barrett.
	   The electronic articles include full schematics with parts 
	   lists that are easy to print. "Building Trestles" has a 
	   materials calculator for figuring out how much wood is needed
	   for a trestle of any height or length, in any of the major 
	   scales.

	*  The INFORMATION CENTER includes Model Railroader magazine's 
	   "Readers Survey", as well as model product catalogs and 
	   additional information about items referred to on the CD-ROM. 
	   There are also three searchable databases of hobby shops, 
	   model railroad clubs, and railroad publications. 

	*  The RAILROAD PHOTOGRAPHY section features powerful 
	   "Prototype Photos" by Dan Dawdy, beautiful "Model Photos" 
	   by John Lowrance and Miles Hale, and classic "Railroad Art" 
	   by John Hugh Coker, Jim Fennell, and Art Olds.

	*  COMPUTERS AND RAILROADING topics feature: interactive, 
	   step-by-step instructions for learning to use "WinRail" 
	   track planning shareware, which is included on the CD 
	   with the Atlas N-Scale track element library, and is 
	   fully supported via E-Mail; "Using 3D Computer Graphics for 
	   Model Railroad Design and Construction"; and a simulated 
	   online session in "Compuserve's TrainNet" Forum, with WinCIM
	   software included on the CD.
