The Amtrak Auto Train is one-of-a-kind. It carries passengers in comfort, along with their car, van or motorcycle, every day to and from Sanford, Fla., and Lorton, Va.. Amtrak recently added Superliner II bi-level coaches to the Auto Train, providing more comfortable reclining seats with leg and foot rests, a drinking water station, convenient changing rooms where travelers can freshen up and more restroom facilities than the single level cars they replaced. Also last month, Amtrak Auto Train replaced buffet-style meal service with a completely restructured dining service for coach passengers. Now, coach customers are treated to an enjoyable restaurant-style seating at dinner and a breakfast complete with attendants to serve them. The comfortable dining cars upgrade the Coach Class meal experience to one similar to that enjoyed by the Auto Train's First Class customers. These changes add up to a bigger and better Auto Train service to mark the 25th year of Amtrak service as America's Passenger Railroad. Customers have a chance to join the anniversary celebration this summer with special Amtrak Auto Train children's fares for kids, 2-15 years old. One-way tickets for children traveling between June 21 and Sept. 30 cost only $29. The round-trip children's fare during this period is $58.
