Featured will be the Amtrak Viewliner sleeping car -- which is partially built in Chicago -- and is already getting rave reviews from passengers on the Lake Shore Limited from Chicago to New York and Boston. The Viewliner is the first single-level sleeping car introduced in the U.S. in 40 years. In addition, an Amtrak Superliner bi-level dining car, an Amtrak Superliner bi-level sleeping car, an Amtrak Superliner bi-level coach and the newest Amtrak locomotive, the Genesis P40, will be on display. Food samples from the new menus on many long-distance trains will also be offered in the dining car, while supplies last. The "touring" fare to be introduced at the event enables a passenger to travel up to 30 days with unlimited stopovers. Up to two children (ages 2 to 15) traveling with an adult can travel for half-fare. Passengers aged 62 and older and students are also eligible for a 15 percent discount. Customers will also receive a way to keep track of their vacations and save even more money with discounts enclosed from Amtrak partner credit card, hotel and car rental companies. This fare will be promoted with music from a hit song of the 1960's, licensed to Amtrak, a series of special events nationwide and a national advertising campaign.
