Previously, all passenger coaches on the Three Rivers terminated in Pittsburgh and customers crossed a train platform to board the Capitol Limited from Washington to Chicago. Coaches originating in both the East and the Midwest will be exchanged from one train to the other. Through coach service between New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Chicago ended when Amtrak eliminated the Broadway Limited train last September. "We are being responsive to the needs of passengers," said Patrick Mead, General Manager for both the Three Rivers and the Capitol Limited. "Amtrak will use this opportunity to gauge customer satisfaction with through service along this route." Reservations are now being accepted for the service.
