================================================== Motive Power of the Railways of the Baltic States ================================================== ------------------------------ compiled by Benno Bickel Compuserve: 100527,2756 Internet: vhssob@medianet.de Upload Date: August 4, 1995 ------------------------------ This is the first attempt to a motive power list of the newly established railways of the three independent baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. All the motive power and rolling stock was taken over from the Baltic Region of the former Soviet Railways in 1991. Many of the locomotives taken over are not serviceable or a stored because of lack of traffic after break-down of the Soviet Empire. Unfortunately there are no lists giving the active lots of each class. Until now the three new (or better reborn) railways retained the old Soviet classification scheme.
