NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY GENERAL INFORMATION AND TIMETABLE 1995 North Yorkshire Moors Railway Pickering Station Pickering North Yorkshire YO18 7AJ UK telephone (=44) 1751 472508 GENERAL INFORMATION This is a preserved railway with an 18 mile line running between Pickering and Grosmont (near Whitby). It was originally constructed by George Stephenson in the 1830's and runs through the North Yorkshire Moors National Park offering some spectacular scenery. Special events and dining services are run throughout the year. STATION SHOP The Pickering Station Shop carries a wide range of books and videos, many in NTSC format. Mail order is available. TIMETABLE Trains run from April 1st to October 29th plus Santa Specials and dining trains around Christmas and the new year. The basic timetable is - depart Pickering 10.20 11.20 13.20 14.20 16.20 depart Grosmont 9.50 11.50 12.50 14.50 16.50 At weekends and during holiday periods extra services are run. Intermediate stops are at Levisham, Newtondale and Goathland. DINING TRAINS The North Yorkshireman runs from Grosmont to Pickering return on Saturday evenings from 6th May to 30th September for a delicious 5 course dinner. The Pickering Pullman runs from Pickering to Grosmont return every Friday evening from 2nd June to 29th September for a five course star night out. The Moorlander runs from Pickering on Sundays from 19th February to 26th March and from Grosmont every Sunday from 2nd April to 29th October (excluding 18th June and 17th September) for a traditional Yorkshire sunday lunch. The Moorlander also runs a Christmas lunch service during December. Advance booking for the dining services is essential.
