	"A Safety Factor That Should Be Encouraged"
	Fairmont has been watching with growing interest discussion and action in
connection with the installation of motor car indicators utilizing existing
signal line wires to control indicators to inform men operating motor cars of
the approach of trains. The need for such indicators, especially on curves and
in cuts, has been evidenced by the numerous attempts of motor car operators to
install some kind of a signal directly on the motor car.

	Generally speaking, Fairmont has frowned on the installation of devices on
motor cars because careful study has indicated that a very high degree of
maintenance is required to make them suitable for reliable indication of train
approach.

	However, the idea of utilizing existing signal line wire for motor car
indicators appears to be sound and, in the interest of greater safety and
economy, should be encouraged.
