Whoops - GNER 125 Faces Trolleys on Track
Taken just after a departing GNER 125 had to make a sudden stop during
its take-off run after the driver saw catering trolleys piled up on the
track around the corner. Edinburgh Waverley, platform 1 (follows on from
platform 19 from where the train departed). The GNER mechanic is moving
the carts and the train proceeded with just a few minutes delay. Twist

99% complete after an overhaul lasting many years, this loco has now been

Due to a lack of servicable stock, the class actually lasted slightly longer
on the LT&S. Now the class will no longer be seen in passenger service
as the last have been withdrawn.

On the seat is the Conductors revinue bag. Behind is the PA and the LoudaPhone.
To the right are the Track Circuit Operating Clips and a nice big crow
bar. 302's also came with a nice little 'food warmer' (out of picture to
the left) that took hours to warm up.

317 EMU in the 'Striking New Livery'
A 317 travelling ECS to Pitsea on LTS Rail. When they got their first units
(317 301-3), LTS Rail made a big thing of the colours. They ran it to Shoeburyness
at night so the punters didn't see it, and then used it on their busiest
service. Unfortunately nobody noticed the paint job, and the passengers
all complained about the lack of seats. These were the same passengers
that demanded the end of the 302, 310 and 312's. Go figure!

Class 91 Locomotive, 91002 photographed at Wakefield, Yorkshire in September
of 1992. These locomotives are incorporatrd into a semi-fixed push-pull
formation, consisting of a driving vehicle trailer (DVT) at one end and
the locomotive at the other. In this photograph, the locomotive is propelling
the train from the rear. The class 91 is capable of speeds in excess of
160 mph, although at the present time the maximum operating speed is 130
mph.

in the Exmoor National Park) with its twin village of Lynton, 600 feet
above. The railway rises on a 60% grade, and is entirely powered by stream
water - hence the large green tank underneath the passenger platform. The

This loco is designed for heavy-duty freight trains. It can be fitted with
engines rating from 1600 to 3400 KW. To apply power to the wheels, either
three-phase current or DC can be used. The axleload may vary from 14 to
25 metric tons, thus yielding a loco mass from 84 to 150 metric tons. The
gauge can be varied between 1067 mm and 1676 mm without any alterations
to the chassis. The maximum speed is rated at 160 km/h or 99 mph. The loco
is diesel-electric. It can currently be seen in the Kassel (Germany) area.
It has primarily been built for export purposes. A first fixed order has
been placed by Pakistan Railways; other railways interested are DB AG (Deutsche
