Winter on Algoma Central
From RailOnline Magazine, issue 7, Feb. `94. It's December `93, and the Canadian Algoma Central will be "as warm as" -35 F during Dan Dawdy's trip. But the frigid weather isn't cold enough to stop the two Geeps leading train 1. And the clear winter air is perfect for - you guessed it - railfan shots, highlighting the colorful ACR scheme. ACR keeps their units in shiny mint condition, as can be seen in this photo.

AMTRAKCUT.TXT, Dennis Larson
My response to upper midwest senators re: Am Cuts
This is my response regarding the trains that were selected for elimination or reduction in service. I base my thoughts on mostly data as provided in the documentation. The data includes occupied seats per trip. The poorest group, Short Distance trains, 110.7 average, NEC 159.8, Long Distance Services 210.6. But the cuts and reductions, as pointed out in the document, only followed usage on some routes, not on others. You will see which routes Amtrak favors.

MARC unit 7100 is an E8 but does not have a prime mover any longer. As with the Virginia Railway Express trains I operate, this type of service is known as 'push-pull' and the train can be operated from either end.
